After the launch of the Moto G (3rd gen) in India earlier today, Motorola had three events happening simultaneously in New York City, Sao Paolo and London where it announced the two variants of the Moto X – the Moto X Play and the Moto X Style. While the Moto X Play will start selling from August and the Moto X Style will start selling from September.
Motorola didn’t announced their official prices at the event, considering it was a simultaneous launch across three different continents. But post the event, according to The Guardian, the Moto X Play will be priced at £299 which is approx Rs 30,000 and the Moto X Style will be priced at £359 or approx Rs 36,000. The Indian prices and launch date are yet to be announced.

The Moto X Style features a 5.7-inch QuadHD display offering a 515ppi pixel density. The phone houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC with a 1.8GHz hexa-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM. It will come with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop on board with Motorola’s proprietary features such as Moto Voice, Moto Assist, Moto Display, Moto Actions and so on. The Moto X Style will come in 16/32/64GB storage variants with microSD card slot to add in an additional 128GB.
On the camera front, you get a 21MP rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP front-facing camera which will be accompanied with a flash as well. The camera is capable of shooting 4K videos. It will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery.
The Moto X Style will support the Moto Maker program letting you customise the phone according to your preferences. You can choose between leather, and natural wood covers.
The Moto X Play was the other variant announced after the Moto X Style. Motorola did not give any reasoning behind using the same Moto X branding for both the phones. But as we will notice with the specs, these phones have different internals.

Moto X Play

The Moto X Play will come with a 5.5-inch full HD display thereby giving it a pixel density of 400 ppi. Moto X Play will come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC featuring a 1.7GHz octa-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM. Just like the Moto X Style, this will also feature 4G LTE support, Android 5.1.1 with the same Motorola software features, 21MP rear and 5MP front facing camera.
The video capture mode of the the Moto X Play is limited to full HD mode and its front camera won’t get a dedicate flash unit. But the Play will come with a staggering 3,630mAh battery which according to Motorola will offer a 48 hours of mixed use time. The Moto X Play is expected to come in 16GB and 32GB variants only with the option to expand the storage via a microSD card slot.

Motorola has launched the Moto G 3rd generation smartphone at the company's launch event in New Delhi, India ahead of similar events in London, New York, and Sao Paulo where the company is expected to unveil other smartphones.

The Motorola Moto G (Gen 3) is available in an 8GB inbuilt storage variant with 1GB of RAM priced at Rs. 11,999, and a 16GB model with 2GB of RAM priced at Rs. 12,999. Moto G 3rd gen goes up for sale at Tuesday midnight via exclusive online retail partner, Flipkart. The biggest additions to the smartphone compared to the last generation are 2GB of RAM and 4G LTE connectivity

Unfortunately, the company did not reveal the number of the Moto G 3rd gen units going on sale on the opening day. Motorola did mention that the previous generation Moto G will be phased out with time. At this price point, Motorola will most likely want to repeat the success of its previous two Moto G smartphones while competing directly against the likes of Lenovo's K3 Note at the lower end of the price spectrum and Xiaomi's Mi 4i at the other end.

Launch offers on the Moto G 3rd gen, available till August 2, include Rs. 500 off on Flipkart Fashion on a minimum purchase of Rs. 1,000, 33 percent off on on total Myntra bill value, free Airtel Wynk subscription for 6 months (2 months in non-4G circle), and Airtel Double Data offer for 6 months (2 months in non-4G circle). 100 lucky customers will get 100 percent cashback, while 100 lucky customers will get a Moto 360 for Rs. 1. The company also revealed exchange offers for Moto E and Moto G owners.
As teased in the invite previously, the Moto G (Gen 3) comes with IPX7 certification, which makes the smartphone dust and water-resistant (immersible up to 3 feet of water for 30 minutes). Notably, the previous generation Moto G and Moto G (Gen 2) featured a nano-coating layer that saved them from occasional water splashes. The dual-SIM Moto G (Gen 3) supports two Micro-SIM cards, both supporting 4G LTE connectivity. Notably, the smartphone - like the Moto G (Gen 2) - features dual front speakers, above and below the display, apart from 2 mics.

Moto G 3rd gen features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection against scratches. The Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Moto G (Gen 3) is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with an Adreno 306 GPU. The Moto G (Gen 2) was powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8226) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and the Adreno 305 GPU. The Moto G (Gen 3) will feature expandable storage via microSD card.
The company has also upgraded the camera on the Moto G (Gen 3) which now sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and f/2.0 lens, and a 5-megapixel front camera. The second-generation Moto G featured an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Moto G (Gen 3) features 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and Micro-USB connectivity options. The smartphone is backed by a 2470mAh battery.

Google’s flagship smartphone, the Nexus 6 has gone through a price-cut in India. Launched at a price of Rs 44,999, the 32GB variant is now available at Rs 34,999 where as the 64GB variant which was launched at Rs 49,999, will now be available for purchase at Rs 39,999.
In addition, e-commerce giant Flipkart is offering users an additional exchange offer on the 32GB and 64GB variants of the Nexus 6, by deducting the price up to Rs 5,000 from the original price tag. This brings down the prices of the devices to Rs 29,999 and Rs 34,999 respectively. The two versions of the Nexus 6 are also available on Google Store, the online retail store but at their respective launch prices.
Google has partnered with Motorola to launch the new Nexus 6 smartphone which has a huge 6-inch screen with Quad HD display. It also runs Android 5.0 aka Android Lollipop.
As far as specs of the Google Nexus 6 are concerned, it has a 6-inch screen with Quad HD display with a resolution of 1440×2560 which comes to around 493 pixels per inch. The processor 2.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 with Adreno 420 GPU, backed by 3GB of RAM. The phone is fuelled by a 3220 mAh battery, which Google claims provides up to 24 hours of battery life.

Motorola India seems to be gearing up to launch its high-end Moto Maxx in India via its exclusive online retail partner, Flipkart.
The online retailer on Thursday teased the launch of the Motorola Moto Maxx in India via a tweet that read, "There's a Moto beast coming your way... exclusively on Flipkart. Stay tuned for more details. #MotoOnFlipkart."
The tweet was accompanied by an image that included taglines such as "Get your life turbocharged" and "accelerated performance, Ballistic Nylon fairing, revving in soon." The tweet is clearly referring to the Ballistic Nylon build of the Moto Maxx.

Unfortunately, there was no mention of any launch date from the online retailer; though we can expect more details to surface as the India launch closes in.
To recall, Motorola launched the Moto Maxx smartphone in November as the global variant of the Droid Turbo that is exclusive to US mobile carrier Verizon. It was priced at BRL 2,199 (approximately Rs. 48,000) for the 64GB model.
The Moto Maxx also features a layer of DuPont Kevlar fibre, and is claimed to be protected inside and out with water-repellent nano-coating. It packs a massive 3900mAh battery, the biggest amongst some of the high-end phones. The Moto Maxx also supports Motorola's Turbo Charger, a new accessory from the company stables that is said to provide 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes of charging.

Other specifications of the Moto Maxx include a 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) display offering a pixel density of 565ppi; a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective layer; a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor clocked at 2.7GHz coupled with an Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM; a 21-megapixel rear autofocus camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash, and a 2-megapixel front camera. Connectivity options on the Moto Maxx include 4G LTE with LTE Cat 4, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, and GSM/ EDGE/ HSPA+. As mentioned above, the smartphone comes only in one storage variant - 64GB.

In less than a week of bringing its cheapest smartphone, Lumia 435, to the country, Microsoft has launched the Lumia 532 smartphone. The budget smartphone has been priced at Rs 6,499 and will be positioned against models like Moto E, Lenovo 6000 and Samsung Z1.

The new Lumia 532, a dual-sim martphone, has a 4-inch screen with 480x800p resolution and runs on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. The smartphone packs a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB RAM under the hood and comes with 8GB internal storage and microSD card support up to 128GB. This Microsoft smartphone also packs a 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera and 1,560mAh battery.

Microsoft is offering 30GB free cloud storage, Lumia Camera and Lumia Selfie apps, Microsoft Office mobile suite and Skype integration in dialler in the all-new Lumia 532.

The model will come in four colour options: green, white, black and orange.

Motorola has already released Android 5.0 Lollipop update for both generations of Moto G  and Moto X in India, and looks like the company now plans to extend the latest Android iteration to its uber-cheap Moto E.
Just like Moto G and Moto X, the company is conducting the soak test in India, and has begun inviting members from Motorola Feedback Network.
Subscribers of the feedback program who happen to be using a Moto E handset can test Lollipop on their device and give feedback. If the soak test progresses without any issues, Motorola will then release an over-the-air (OTA) update for Moto E owners soon.
Motorola devices, namely Moto G, X and E, have been running stock Android, without any layers of customisation. The company is also known to relese timely software updates for its devices, as seen in the past. However, it seems to have delayed in case of the Lollipop update.
In the budget segment, Moto E, has been doing very well, and compelled its rivals to come up with devices in the sub-7k price range. In fact, in the past 10 months, the company has disclosed to have sold 24,00,000 units of Moto E and Moto G, and 6,00,000 units of Moto X.

Android Lollipop is rolling out very slowly to most users, and Motorola fans are no exception.
The company today confirmed that the first and second-gen Moto G have received their Lollipop updates in India, as was previously rumored, as well as in Brazil, but what about the rest of the world?
The company's latest blog post doesn't offer any predictions or promises, but it does try to explain why it takes so long for a new update to come out.

"Though we try to make the process seem easy, it's actually pretty complicated," the post reads. "That's because we want to ensure a quality experience across every device that gets the upgrade."

The process
Apparently Lollipop is 'the biggest and most ambitious' Android release to date, and even though Google reportedly 'improved' the release process with this one, it's still a slow process.
It begins when Google releases the new version of Android to the Android Open Source Project — the 'public push,' in other words — and Motorola and other device makers begin testing it on various devices and carriers.
Motorola then releases updates to small groups for testing purposes before wider release commences.
The company encourages users still waiting for updates on their devices to check its software upgrades portal regularly.

NEW DELHI: Google's Nexus 6 has been touted as one of the most solidly built devices with its aluminium frame and hard plastic (non-removable) back. However, a number of users have been reporting that the phone's glued back comes off due to the phone's battery swelling up and expanding.

Disgruntled users have reported the issue on social networks Twitter and Google+ and on Reddit forums. Motorola, which manufactures the Nexus 6 for Google, has even acknowledged the issue and has said that it has come across a number of users who've reported the issue and is offering replacements to affected users. The issue was first reported by Phandroid.

                                                                                                                                  

                                   User Jordan Dunn from Dearborn, Michigan (USA) also had the same complaint. He posted about the issue on Google+. "Damn, Nexus 6 back panel coming unglued! Had to take it to the T-mo(bile) store to show I didn't damage it but they're sending me a new one."
 

Just like the Moto G and its LTE variant, the 4G model of the Moto G (Gen 2) has been listed ahead of an official announcement by the company. This time however, the Moto G (Gen 2) LTE has been listed on Motorola's site in Brazil.
The LTE (Band 7) variant of the Motorola Moto G (Gen 2) is listed on the firm's site to weigh slightly more than the 3G version at 155 grams, feature a bigger 2390mAh battery, and come only in a 16GB model (though with expandability via microSD card).
The Motorola Moto G (Gen 2) LTE is listed in a dual-SIM variant, with slots for Micro-SIM cards. The rest of the specifications of the smartphone are the same - a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixel) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 (MSM8226) processor, 1GB of RAM, Adreno 305 GPU. It runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box.

The Moto G (Gen 2) LTE features an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It also sports dual-front speakers, above and below the display, apart from 2 mics. 4G LTE aside, the smartphone also features 3G, Wi-Fi 80211.ac, Bluetooth 4.0LE, Micro-USB, 3.5mm audio jack connectivity options. It measures 141.5x70.7x10.99mm.
The 3G variant of the Moto G (Gen 2) had its global launch in India back in September, and it was priced at Rs. 12,999. Notably, the Moto G (Gen 2) has not yet been listed for purchase by the company on the Brazil site, with the DTV (Digital TV) variant listed at BRL 799 (roughly Rs. 18,900), and the regular 3G variant listed at BRL 729 (roughly Rs. 17,200). It is not yet known if an LTE model will arrive in a similar configuration for global markets.

Motorola, apparently has big plans for the Indian handset market. In an interview for the Economic Times, Rick Osterloh, president and chief operation officer at the US tech giant stated that the company will be very aggressive in the 4G market come 2015.

The transition to 4G will be quick. Next year, we are going to be very aggressive in the 4G value proposition for end users. India is absolutely essential (for global turnaround). India and Brazil are countries that we think first when we think about our business because that's the future. The market here is growing incredibly quickly.

The India smartphone market has proven to be one of the fastest growing in recent years, which unsurprisingly has spiked a lot of interest in the tech world. Its importance is so formidable, that manufacturers, developers and vendors all around are tailoring products and marketing strategies specifically for the market. Android One is perhaps the best example of the game-changing effects the new vast user base is having on the sector.
4G is still very much in its infancy, with coverage available in only a few major cities in India. But Motorola are hoping to catch the major nation-wide roll-out, scheduled for early next year and captivate users with affordable 4G devices. Motorola is somewhat of an expert when it comes to targeting the lower market segments and it seems likely that Lenovo-owned company will have whopping success in the new market, especially judging by the unprecedented success of the Motorola Moto G and Moto E.

Osterloh did not provide any specific information as to what devices are going to hit India's market or when that is set to happen. All we know is that Motorola, which is currently the fifth largest brand on the aforementioned market has aimed straight for a place among the top three.
