Days after slashing the price of its phablet, Redmi Note 4G, by Rs 2,000 to Rs 7,999, Chinese handset maker Xiaomi seems set to cut the price of another product. If a tweet by Redmi Indiais to go by, the Redmi 2 is likely to see a price cut of Rs 1,000 starting July 7

Inventec, the Taiwanese ODM which makes notebooks, consumer electronics, mobile phones and server products, is looking to set up a production facility in Chennai, according to Digitimes. The production is expected to begin by the third quarter of 2015 said the company.
According to industry-watchers, the first devices that will be rolled out of the Chennai factory would be smartphones and other devices for Chinese phone maker Xiaomi. Inventec hasn’t spoken about the kinds of products it aims to manufacture in India.
Speaking to tech2, Manu Jain, Xiaomi’s India head said that the company does not comment on speculations. “We are talking to multiple partners for exploring manufacturing in India, and it will be unfair to comment unless we have finalized anything,” he said.
Company Chairman Richard Lee has said that he expects the shipments of ODM/OEM devices to reach 100 million units by 2015, which is an almost 33% jump from 75 million units in 2014. Inventec hopes the facility in India will help it meet the demands in the next couple of years.
Among all the devices made by Inventec, the smartphone shipments are expected to go up to 60 million units as against 55 million units last year. PC products including notebooks are expected to reach 24-25 million units this year.

Xiaomi has asked customers to like the Mi India Facebook announcement post and share it with at least 3 friends.Users are then supposed to go to their page on the company’s India site and enter the email address which is associated with their Flipkart account to register. The company claims that this could be the last chance to purchase the Mi 3 in India.
As a part of the Republic Day sale, the Chinese phone maker also announced that the Redmi Note 4G is available now till January 26, without the need to register or participate in a flash sale. However, the company hasn’t disclosed any specific number of units that will be put up for sale this weekend.

A report coming out of Taiwan forecasts that Xiaomi's latest Mi Note phablet might touch 15 million shipping units this year. Additionally, reports coming out from China claim that the Mi Note will go on sale next Tuesday.
Focus Taiwan in a report cites a KGI Investment Advisory that was issued on Sunday, primarily focusing on what impact the large shipping units of the Mi Note will put on several Taiwanese technology companies.
KGI expects that Xiaomi will ship around 13 to 15 million Mi Note units in 2015, where March and May months will see the flagship phablet sales topping. The report adds that Xiaomi will face production hurdles in the first couple of months, before the "output normalises at between 1 million to 2 million units per month".
Further, KGI pointed to a number of manufacturers based in Taiwan, which will benefit from Xiaomi Mi Note's large production quantities, including Sunnic Technology and Merchandise Inc, a distributor of Sony parts and modules; Largan Precision, a camera lens maker; Primax Electronics, camera module makers, and Inventec, an electronic manufacturing service provider.
Another report suggests that the Mi Note phablet is all set to go on sale on January 27, and has seen very impressive pre-order numbers. According to Android Headlines, Xiaomi is now taking bookings for the first Mi Note sale - though it has not yet revealed the number of Mi Note units that will be available.
To recall, the Xiaomi Mi Note phablet launched last week, and has been priced at CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 23,000) for the 16GB model, while the 64GB model comes at CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 27,900).
The dual-SIM and dual-standby Xiaomi Mi Note with Micro-SIM and Nano-SIM card support features a 5.7-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) Sharp JDI display offering a pixel density of 386ppi. It also packs Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The handset sports a metal frame.
The phablet is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz alongside 3GB of RAM and Adreno 330 GPU. The Xiaomi Mi Note also supports 4G LTE connectivity and is backed by a 3000mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 technology.
Other specifications include a 13-megapixel rear camera with a six-element lens, OIS, a Sony CMOS sensor, and two-tone flash from Philips. There is a 4-megapixel front-camera also onboard with large 2-micron pixels.

The alleged Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, just like its predecessor is expected to be an affordable one at that. However, the device will reportedly be high on features, as is now quite a known thing about Xiaomi.
That said, going by its tipped specifications, the alleged Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is expected to be a power house of a device.
The alleged device is expected to feature a 5.5-inch LCD display with a 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It is expected to be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 615 or MediaTek MT6752 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. The two processor variants could mean separate 3G and 4G versions of the device like the original.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will reportedly come with 16GB of internal storage and is likely to run Android 4.4 KitKat out-of-the-box with the company's MIUI 6 UI on top.
It is expected to sport a 13MP primary camera and a 5MP secondary camera. It is further touted to deck in a 3100mAh battery.

XIAOMI is reportedly preparing a Galaxy Note Edge-like smartphone with a dual-edge display, dubbed the Xiaomi Arch.
According to GizmoChina on Saturday, a purported poster of the as-yet-unannounced Xiaomi Arch was spotted that called it the world's first phone with dual-edge display or dual-curved screen. However, the report doesn't reveal the source of the poster.
The Xiaomi Arch appears like a concept smartphone from the purported poster image (see above), and features a dual-edge display instead of just the single-edge display seen on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Note Edge.
While there is no confirmation from the Chinese manufacturer about the Xiaomi Arch, the two devices that are expected from the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi at CES 2015 are the Mi 5 or Mi 4S smartphone and the MiPad 2 tablet, which were both recently spotted in purported specifications and images.
From the purported image for the alleged Mi 5 or Mi 4S, the smartphone appeared to be a large screen phablet and was said to come with a sapphire glass display. The sapphire glass rumour is in line with a previous report, where the company was said to have ordered 50,000 sapphire covers for the smartphone.
As far as the specifications are concerned, the anticipated Mi 5 or Mi 4S smartphone is rumoured to feature a 5.7-inch Quad-HD (1440x2560 pixels) display; a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor; 3GB of RAM, and a 20.7-megapixel rear camera.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note phablet in India, priced at Rs. 8,999. The Chinese company also announced a 4G-LTE variant of its 5.5-inch phablet named Redmi Note 4G priced at Rs. 9,999.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note will be available only through flash sales starting December 2, just like the Xiaomi Mi 3 and Redmi 1S have been so far. Customers will have to register for the first flash sale on Flipkart after 6pm IST on Tuesday, November 25. The company has not confirmed how many units will be put up for sale.
The Redmi Note 4G, unlike the Redmi Note, will be also available in Airtel stores in six cities. Customers will have to register separately to buy a Redmi Note 4G from Airtel stores. It will be available in the second half of December.
Xiaomi also revealed at the Redmi Note launch event, that it is planning to have more than 100 service centres operational in the country by next year.
Last week, the company teased the Redmi Note on Facebook, and sent out an official invitation to the launch event shortly thereafter. The Chinese company had initially showcased the Redmi Note back in July at the Mi 3 launch in India. Xiaomi had also announced at the time that the smartphone would be priced at Rs. 9,999.

The Redmi Note 4G runs on a quad-core 1.6GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU coupled with 2GB of RAM, and is a single-SIM device. It will come running Android 4.4.2 KitKat with the same MIUI v5 skin. Xiaomi has indicated that updates to Android 5 Lollipop will be available in the future, though no time frame was announced.
